The underground music world of Atlanta has been moving and shaking recently, especially in the realm of new music. So here’s three artists with new music that you should definitely listen to, to keep you in the spooky mood.

Rhino Girl by Pinto Sunshine
First off, we’ve got “Rhino Girl” by Pinto Sunshine. This song is probably one of my most favorites right now and is simultaneously one of the most confusing.
Released on October 25th, the song fits perfectly in your summer playlist, even though we’re technically in fall. (It might as well still be summer in Georgia based on this weather). I can only describe it as alternative surf rock vibes while also somehow pulling on midwest emo notes, which I never thought would be possible.
I’ve been sitting here trying to figure out what this song reminds me of when it hits me, it’s just nostalgic of when the Backseat Lovers were really popular in 2021/2022 during summer. For me, it was a fantastic summer and this song totally pulls on that feeling.
The song is super catchy, easy to sing along to, and is really well produced. You can tell just from listening that this song has great stage performance, and the guitar solo towards the end is just the cherry on top of this amazing song.

Wes Anderson by The Outfield Clovers
Next up, the Outfield Clovers have graced the ears of the midwest-emo crowd with their recent single “Wes Anderson.”
Released October 11th, the single pulls on every midwest emo note you could think of. Down to the solemn guitar and the lead singer’s raw and whiny vocals, the single is reminiscent of so many of your favorite midwest emo bands. It’s crafted extremely well, and was even produced by Will Turpin of Collective Soul and Real 2 Reel Studios in Atlanta.
The name is thought provoking too, I mean why “Wes Anderson”? Granted, Wes Anderson is an extremely inspirational director and if you haven’t heard of him before, movies like “Fantastic Mr. Fox” and “The Grand Budapest Hotel” might jog your memory.
Based on the lyrics, it seems like just a love letter to a girl that got away, and the connection of loving Wes Anderson is the only thing that keeps him from letting her go. How much more midwest emo can you get with that?
The only thing we’re left with is hope for a new album so let’s just collectively bug The Outfield Clovers until they give us another song, deal?

treacherous three by Big Yellow
Last but not least, Atlanta’s favorite noise rock band Big Yellow, has delivered a new EP. Hot off the heels of their recent collaborative album with tons of other underground artists, Big Yellow is making big moves in the underground world of Atlanta.
Released on October 25th, Big Yellow has provided us with three new songs in the form of an EP titled “treacherous three.” Like always, they have delivered.
The EP is as chaotic and noisy as you’d expect. It holds up to the name honestly, with three songs that hold true to who Big Yellow is. If you’ve ever seen them live, you know that they are wild and have such a stunning stage performance. It’s easy to tell that these three songs will only level up that kind of performance.
“filet mignon” is probably my most favorite because it’s the perfect head-banging song. Lots of wild drums holding a beat that falls perfectly in the pocket and a guitar that adds to the depth and grunge of the song are the main characteristics that make this song what it is.
Overall, “treacherous three” holds true to who Big Yellow are and provides their fans with more music to mosh to at their shows. Hopefully, a new album is in the works for the future.
